Here 6-foot-tall Immacolata (Vanessa Redgrave) is with her grandmother (played by a man) and her brother, who, like all her siblings, was played by a person with dwarfism. The disparity in height was one of Brass' ways of showing why her family considered her a 'misfit'.

The home of the gypsies Ra (Margarita Lozano) and Alpi was created in an abandoned brick factory in the Po Valley. It was one of the most beautiful architectural structures I have been in.
