Fire and Destruction

"Everything is burning," taught the Buddha. Each cell of our own body burns oxygen from the air to metabolize the food we eat. We burn with greed and sexual desire, and fan the flames of hatred that lead to war and destruction, like the attack on the World Trade Center (image on lower right) and the bombing of Iraq. The whole world -- with its 6 billion breathing, eating, and mating people -- is on fire.
